For this project I was to create a film festival that would not only entertain, but also provoke thought about the rapid evolution of technology and its potential impact on our lives, especially in the future. The main challenge was both how to curate a film festival that would engage audiences of varying tech literacy, and also how to design an experience that would be powerful and memorable.
I chose films that explores AI, automation, social media, and virtual reality while keeping them accessible to audiences of all backgrounds. To visually reinforce the theme of technology, I designed the festival space using bright blue and pink accents layered over dark blue and black backgrounds. The contrast suggested both the excitement and the caution that comes with rapid technological change, while visually unifying the festival's identity across screens, installations, and signage. Every day the festival hosted open discussions after each screening. These conversations allowed attendees to share insights, question the ethical implications of technology, and reflect on how these innovations might affect their own lives. Although this project was challenging, every element was carefully considered and curated around the idea of how technology can both connect and disconnect us from the world around us.
